ACM sponsors two elementary schools. The first is Thani Bauk Primary School, led by Christian teacher Pan Cho. Located in a river delta village only accessible by boat (and even boats rarely venture there), it was founded after Cyclone Nargis ravaged the area in 2008. The village school had been destroyed, so ACM built a new building where children who were traumatized by the storm could feel safe. Eventually, the government sent elementary teachers to the village. Pan Cho now focuses on teaching kindergarten: a grade that is typically not offered in most primary schools.
The other, Taung Minglar Primary School, is located in another remote village in Rakhine State. Teacher Ma Soe instructs over 50 children and shares her love of Jesus with them. She has also taken in many impoverished students whose parents could not afford to care for them. ACM also provided funds to build this school building. It is even outfitted with solar panels to provide electricity!
