Project Description

“LIVING WATER” AND WATER FOR LIVING

In rural areas, women and children spend much of their time simply getting water from distant streams or springs. This robs women of economic activity that could improve their family’s well-being, and steals educational opportunities from children.

Often in partnership with IDES, Asian Children’s Mission has worked in several communities throughout Myanmar to bring safe and plentiful water as part of our Community Health Evangelism (CHE) initiatives. We’ve diverted water from two clean mountain streams, dug 18 wells, installed 3 water purification systems and provided several water filtration systems. Here are some of the results:

  • Women are able to devote time to income generation.
  • More children are able to go to school for longer periods of time.
  • Relationships with local government officials are improved, as water is provided to their offices as well.
  • The surrounding community sees answered prayer and Christian concern for their well-being.
  • Christian leaders dedicate the water projects, pointing to Jesus Christ as the Living Water.
