While it is not one of ACM’s primary missions, we occasionally help with serious medical needs, such as special medicine for a young lady who suffers from epileptic seizures.
One example of medical intervention is the story of Ah Du, a widow with four children. She was slowly dying as the result of a failed tooth extraction. The infection became a tumor that threatened to cut off her breathing. She lived far from medical care, and could not afford it anyway. Asian Children’s Mission joined with IDES and Myanmar Hope Christian Mission to provide funding to save her life. Six teeth were extracted to remove the tumor. After recovery, she was flown to the nearest airport — then walked 15 miles to be reunited with her children.
