Never again will we say to the idols we have made: “You are our gods.” No, in you alone do the orphans find mercy.
-Hosea 14:3

The Bible abounds with the call to care for the poor and orphans. In fact, James helps us to understand that part of our measure as believers is the care of the fatherless (James 1:27).

The first and most enduring ministry of Asian Children’s Mission is the care of orphans.

Without intervention, vulnerable children face many dangers. They may be forced into armed conflict, carrying weapons and other supplies. Child labor is common in the country. Many are sold to human traffickers. Some simply die of disease or malnutrition.

On my first trip to Myanmar in 2007, I learned about the terrible plight of these children. I promised to open two orphanages — Loving Fountain Orphanage Center in the city of Myitkyina, and Hope Children’s Home, near Yangon.

More than 100 boys and girls call these two places “home.” Some stay for a season due to serious illness of family members; some will stay until adulthood. All are loved, fed, sheltered and educated.

Some of our children are now adults. One young lady is attending Bible College to prepare her to return to her home village and evangelize her former neighbors. Another girl is working in retail. Others have opened businesses or are teaching in elementary schools.

It is not a stretch to say that we are raising a generation of Christian leaders for Myanmar.

Child sponsorship is $25 a month, or $300 a year. You can give on our secure website, even setting up automatic payments. You can help provide now for the future Christian leadership in Myanmar.
